Most people believe that health and wellness are about physical fitness, staying away from diseases and having a fit body. To improve, they only focus on a good diet and exercise. But as per the health and wellness educators worldwide, this field is not limited to just physical health. It is pursuing continued growth and balance between the various components.
Health and wellness can be divided into five parts, which may be interrelated, but each contributes in its way to a better life. To stay “well”, all these components must be looked after. The five components are: mind, body, spirit, emotional, and social.
Mind
Mental health practices that have been handed down through generations, such as mindfulness and meditation.
Body
Emphasizing the importance of physical health & practices like yoga, walking, and dance while nourishing our body with an ancestral whole-food diet
Social
The need for strong, supportive community relationships..find our “tribe” as this role plays into our overall health and happiness.
Spirit
Health includes our spiritual well-being, by connecting to a higher power such as God, The Universe, or Mother Earth.
Emotion
Knowledge passed down through generations can help us navigate life through emotional understanding and intuition.
